Our story began in 2011, when we purchased the Misty Oaks estate from a family who had cared for it for over 40 years. We were immediately drawn to its rolling hills, ancient oaks, and quiet sense of peace. True to its name, morning mist often blankets the land, giving it a subtle, almost magical allure that’s felt as much as it’s seen.

In our early years, we grew hay—but it didn’t inspire much wonder. So we planted a vineyard instead: something beautiful, alive, and meaningful. With guidance from our vineyard management team, we planted Cabernet Sauvignon, and partnered with a respected Paso Robles winery that shared our love of Cabernet Sauvignon and its many expressions around the world to purchase our grapes. And just like that, the vineyard took root.

Over time, we watched the land, vines, and microclimates come together into something greater. In 2021, on a whim, we set aside a small portion of grapes to make our own wine. We kept it simple—no grand techniques, just patience and curiosity. What emerged surprised us: a wine that was vibrant and expressive, with layers of fruit and spice that hinted at real potential.

That moment made things clear. We wanted to create “Old World” wines that pair well with food and elevate the moments in life that matter most: family, friends, gathering, storytelling, laughter, and connection. And more than that, we wanted to share the journey, not as a traditional winery, but as a community. That’s how the Misty Oaks Vineyards Experience was born.
