2021 Cabernet Sauvignon
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2021 opens with bright cherry, apple skin, and spiced soy candle on the nose. On the palate, the wine is very fresh, with notes of graphite and pumpkin seed that carry through to a grainy finish.
2021 marks the inaugural vintage for Misty Oaks. Though the vines were still young, there is depth and complexity to the wine. The Estate is planted on decomposed sandstone, contributing to higher drainage, and as a result, softer tannins and lifted aromatics. Cabernet Sauvignon is known for quite pronounced tannins, so taming them is often a challenge.
The vintage itself was categorized as a drought year and cooler-than-average temperatures, especially during harvest time. As a result, tannins were able to fully ripen while acidity and freshness were preserved.

2022 Noble Heart
100% Cabernet Sauvignon
2022 was an uncharacteristically hot vintage, with temperatures regularly hitting 100+ degrees as well as having drought conditions. Hot vintages tend to see more oxidation in the wines, with tannins not quite as developed as cooler vintages (this is where blends can really help). That being said, the 2022 certainly sees more maturity in both flavor and texture than the 2021.
This wine breathes aromas of ripe strawberries, leather, and pencil lead. On the palate, there is more weight than in the 2021, with a plethora of fruit in the mid-palate. The texture is round and mouthfilling, bridging the freshness up-front to the finish, which is long and lasting. Overall, for a difficult vintage, this wine is a home run. We are excited to see what further bottle age brings, as there is ever-fleeting earth and non-fruit tones which will continue to evolve.

2022 The Outback
80% Cabernet Sauvignon
20% Syrah
Inspired by the classic “Grange” blends of Australia, the Outback is a perfect example of the power of blending. All Cabernet is from the Misty Oaks Estate, while the Syrah is from a Westside Paso Robles vineyard known as Rolph.
Cabernets from Paso Robles tend to lean more towards the red fruits, so to balance, we blend just a touch of Syrah, which leans more towards the blue and black.
This wine bursts with aromas of black plum, cassis, and Kalamata olive. On the palate, there are flavors of violet, blueberry, and dusty trail. This wine is texture-driven, blended to emphasize the round mid-palate and chalky tannins.
