Vineyards
Located in the heart of the Paso Robles American Viticultural Area is the Geneseo District, a beautiful valley filled with rolling hills, ancient river terraces, and majestic Oak trees. The region has a rich agricultural history dating to the late 1800s. Misty Oaks Vineyards is nestled here on moderately sloping terrain near Huerhuero Creek. Though tucked into just seven acres, we are a deeply intentional vineyard. In a region defined by warm, sun-drenched days, cool nights, and rich, sandy, loamy soils layered over ancient calcareous rock, every block is thoughtfully planted to bring out the best of our region’s soil and sun, with varietals that speak to “old world” tradition.
At the heart of our estate is Cabernet Sauvignon, spanning 4.5 acres and thriving in the warm, arid climate of the Eastside. It’s a varietal that has long found success in Paso Robles, and for us, it’s the foundation of our wine program — expressive, structured, and deeply rooted in place.
In 2025, we grafted 1.5 acres of Petit Verdot and Merlot into the vineyard. Petit Verdot is a bold, complex varietal that will bring depth and character to our blends. Merlot exhibits medium-to-full body, smooth tannins, and notes of red fruit including black cherry, plum, and raspberry. Both are small plantings, but ones that reflect our curiosity and respect for classic Bordeaux expressions.
Alongside the planting of Petit Verdot and Merlot, we introduced a one-acre block of Sangiovese, head-trained with the vines spaced 12 by 12 feet, a style rarely seen in Paso Robles. This unique setup encourages natural vigor, which we balance through careful farming and management of the canopy and fruit, with our aim of producing vibrant, expressive wines with a distinct voice.
Although our estate is the core of who we are, we also thoughtfully source grapes from select Paso Robles vineyards — blending sun-drenched Eastside ripeness with the cooler, more nuanced tones of the Westside. The result is a collection of wines that capture the full personality of Paso Robles: bold, balanced, and unmistakably expressive.
